8th Annual BLESSING AFRICA Fundraiser
by Hosanna Broadcasting Foundation
Sunday, November 4th, 2012 2PM - 6PM
Location: South Coast Botanic Garden (26300 Crenshaw Blvd, Palos Verdes, CA 90274)
Hosanna Broadcasting Foundation recently announced its eighth annual Blessing Africa fundraiser, which will benefit HIV/AIDS orphans in Ethiopia, East Africa. The event will be held on Sunday, November 4th, at South Coast Botanic Garden in Palos Verdes Peninsula.
The Blessing Africa fundraiser will feature a gospel brunch, live entertainment and a fashion show. Proceeds will be generated from an African bazaar and silent auction, as well as ticket sales. The proceeds will be used to support two children’s pro-jects in Africa—Hosanna House and the Hosanna Soccer League.
Hosanna House is an orphanage for girls who have lost their parents to the HIV/AIDS virus. The Hosanna Soccer League is a program dedicated to the care of boys who would otherwise not be able to attend school. Both programs assist more than 100 disadvantaged children, ages 8 to 14, all of whom live under extreme poverty. (to continue reading, visit www.ourweekly.com)
Expulsion, a free dance performance by Heidi Duckler's Dance Theater
October 15, 2011 4PM - 7PM
Location: 175 N. Brand Blvd, Glendale, CA (in a vacant lot)
This project was amazing and truly touching and inspiring. LECRC looks forward to working with HDDT in May for a collaboration with Little Ethiopia!
The project is being co-sponsored by Glendale Arts and is a collaboration with Glendale's own Djanbazian Dance Company.
Expulsion is a public art presentation based on themes of dislocation and relocation of families, an open dialogue about the impact these issues have on individuals, families and neighborhoods. Performed in a humble vacant lot, Expulsion profoundly dances the Old Testament story of Cain and Abel, upon industrial scaffolding echoing performances of growth and development.
